Nucleus Arts Centre Chatham

Arts, Culture and Entertainment
Nucleus Arts Centre (NAC) formerly the New Art Centre, is a charitable arts organisation established in 2002 to promote the arts, and further the advancement of public education in the appreciation, production and practice of the arts in Medway. It is based around a mews accessed from the pedestrian section of Chatham High Street.

The name "Nucleus" was chosen to reflect the centre's goal of being at the centre of Medway's creative community and its provision of the basis for the growth of creative industry in the area.

NAC in Chatham is the largest artist's studio complex in North Kent. It's a creative hub, offering a meeting space for like minds and a proven incubator for local artistic talent. It also encourages local artists to participate in the South East Open Studios (SEOS) programme held annually in June, and in 2010 SEOS events are being held at NAC based studios.

The on-site Nucleus Gallery presents regular exhibitions by local artists, schools and colleges. Often the work is for sale and visitors to the gallery will find something to suit all tastes and budgets.

In addition to studio space, the gallery space can be hired for temporary exhibitions and events, and the complex includes a courtyard cafe (with outdoor terrace in season), a kiln room for ceramicists, and a meeting room with conference facilities for hire.
