Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service Assessed
The Spitfire and Hurricane Museum is a unique site, displaying the two iconic war planes, and also holding a host of objects and artefacts telling the story of life in and around Ramsgate during WWII. Central to the display are the iconic Spitfire Mk XVI and Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc.
All visitors must wear a face covering inside the buildings, comply with NHS Track and Trace, and respect the social distancing guidelines.
An absolute must-visit, photography is welcome too, and best of all, it’s free!
As well as the collection, the Museum has a small shop and the Merlin Café (open 7 days a week from May 18th) serves teas, coffees and quality hot food, with an outside seating area.Â
Visitors are welcome to sit on the benches in the Allied Crew Memorial Garden to relax and reflect, in an evocative atmosphere.
Visitors can also book a flight in the Spitfire Simulator.
The Spitfire Flight Experience is open, with all safety measures in place (age, size, and mobility restrictions apply).
Cost is £30 for 30 minutes. Book your flight from their website here.
The Museum offers bespoke education sessions and can accommodate group or coach bookings.
Access Information
The entrance and entire Museum are based on level ground and are fully accessible to wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Although the double-doors at the entrance are manual, help is available from Museum volunteers.
Seating areas are available in exhibition halls, and one wheelchair is available for visitor use.
There is also step-free access to the cafeteria and shop. Grounds and gardens are mostly flat, and include paved areas, paths, and benches.
An accessible unisex toilet is located with other toilets outside the cafeteria.
Two accessible parking bays are located in the large free car park close to the Museum entrance.
