Turner Contemporary

Arts, Culture and Entertainment

*Booking essential*

Turner Contemporary is an internationally-renowned Gallery showing contemporary and historical art.

In a striking building designed by award-winning architect Sir David Chipperfield, Turner Contemporary presents a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions, events and learning opportunities.

Since opening, the Gallery has exhibited the work of countless international artists, including Turner Prize nominees and winners Antony Gormley, Tracey Emin, Jeremy Deller, Grayson Perry, Yinka Shonibare, and Paula Rego.

A café, shop, and outdoor terrace are available for visitors to enjoy during Gallery opening hours.

Access Information

The Gallery is fully accessible for wheelchair users. There is a ramp to the main entrance and café, and an internal lift to upper floor galleries. The Gallery has accessible toilets. There are 2 wheelchairs available for visitor use and there are also 2 Portable Hearing Loops kept at the information desk and shop (can be used on free exhibition tours and around the Gallery.) These can be booked in advance for talks and screenings.

The main spaces of the Gallery are upstairs, but can be accessed by a lift. During some exhibitions, video booths are installed, and every effort is made to ensure these are fully accessible; inside the booths, there may be strobe effects, loud noises or darkness.

There are 7 accessible (Blue Badge) parking bays directly outside.
